OUR STORY

PLAYR1 Founder AJ Foppe has worked with some of the largest brands in the beverage industry. However, he always felt that something was missing from the world's most popular drinks. One day, one of his World Class athletes won an event that he was racing. During the interviews, the athlete took a drink from his sponsor’s beverage, and AJ noticed the drink was crystal clear. When AJ later asked the athlete what he was drinking, the athlete responded "water!" During their conversation, AJ learned that these athletes are not allowed to race while using this specific product, and that they fill the cans with water for the publicity. Come to find out that many of the top products do not meet doping guidelines of professional sports. AJ realized that a large percentage of the drinks on the market are unhealthy, made with inferior raw materials, and do not meet their supplemental claims. This was AJ’s
“ah-ha” moment, and he set out to create something new.

Starting in mid 2020, AJ began the research and development for entering the functional beverage space; and soon, the name PLAYR1 was born. AJ set off and got to developing. He worked closely with labs, nutritionists, and manufacturers. After years of trial and error, testings, and revisions, AJ finally discovered the perfect formula - a product offering that would increase focus, properly hydrate, provide jitter-free energy, and be a healthy alternative to any carbonated drink. All of this in a drink that can be enjoyed all day long by any age, and ultimately, make the consumer feel better. Now that the perfect formula had been created, it was time to form the brand, and grow the team.

During the summer of 2022, AJ met Michael Thomas, a professional artist, animator, and designer from Atlanta, Georgia. It didn't take long for Michael to see the vision, and bring to life everything AJ had imagined. Shortly after, Michael was brought on as the CMO, and for the next 6 months, worked closely with AJ to develop the brand identity of PLAYR1.

It has been years of good and bad to get to this point, but we couldn't be more proud. The proof of concept has been warmly received, and the excitment has been growing.
